Fact, Fiction or FairyTale

In a world overflowing with stories and information, it’s essential to distinguish between fact, fiction, and fairy tale—especially when it comes to eternal truth. Pastor Anthony Hall invites us to define these terms clearly and view them in light of our faith.

Fact: A fact is an undeniable truth, grounded in evidence and reality. For Christians, God’s existence as Creator and the truth of His Word are facts. The Bible isn’t up for debate; it is truth.
Fiction: Fiction is imaginative and can entertain or educate. But when it comes to eternal matters, fiction cannot be confused with truth.

Fairy Tale: Fairy tales are fanciful stories that entertain and teach morals, but they are just that—stories.

Boom Bang! Evolution: A Fairy Tale?

Evolution suggests that life is a product of random chance, but Pastor Hall urges us to view it as a modern fairy tale
—a story of origin that ignores the truth of God’s intentional creation.

Once Upon A Time Santa Claus...

Santa Claus may bring joy to children, but he’s a cultural tale—not a factual figure.
Rapunzel is a FairyTale!

“In the Beginning…”

The Bible opens with “In the beginning…,” an oft-quoted phrase that declares the foundational truth of creation by God. For believers, there is no question: God is our Creator and Maker, and that is a fact.

The Bible is Still the World’s Best-Selling Book

It’s no accident that the Bible remains the best-selling book in the world. This timeless book speaks directly to every human heart and holds the ultimate truth.

Intelligent Design: An Intelligent Designer

Pastor Hall shares a story of Sir Isaac Newton. When Newton crafted a model of the solar system out of scrap metal, a friend marveled at its design and asked who made it. Newton replied, “No one.” The friend’s confusion led Newton to reveal a profound truth: if this simple model needs a designer, how much more does the real universe require one?

God’s Handiwork Declared by Creation

Scripture supports this truth, as Psalms 19:1-3 declares, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.” Creation’s beauty speaks loudly of an intentional, intelligent Designer.

“No Coke, No Pork, No Dope”

Some may find Adventist practices strange, but they’re rooted in biblical principle. Following scripture like 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Adventists treat their bodies as temples, choosing to avoid substances like pork, caffeine, and drugs.

Cherry Picking Scripture? Not an Option

Scripture isn’t a buffet
God’s Word is consistent, complete, and unwavering. We must accept it as the full, cohesive message it was meant to be.

Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

God’s handiwork is evident in the complexities of human life. Pastor Hall points to giraffes as an example. Their high blood pressure and massive hearts are carefully designed to function with their towering necks, demonstrating God’s precise craftsmanship.

How Do We Know the Bible is Real?

2 Peter 1:21 teaches that Scripture is divinely inspired, “written by men moved by the Holy Spirit.” 2 Timothy 3:16 declares that “All Scripture is God-breathed,” meaning it is signed, sealed, and delivered by the Holy Spirit. And Jesus Himself referenced the Old Testament, affirming its relevance in Luke 24:27 and Luke 24:44. The Old Testament was never abolished—it is part of God’s Word, still true and relevant today.

To Scale or Not To Scale

Reject the fiction, and leave fairy tales where they belong. The Bible is fact!

Pastor Hall’s sermon reminds us that, in a world full of stories, only one stands as the ultimate truth: the Bible. While fiction entertains and fairy tales stir the imagination, the Bible endures as the foundational fact of our existence, purpose, and destiny. From Genesis to Revelation, it reveals a Creator who intricately designed the universe, a Redeemer who loves us deeply, and a Savior who offers eternal hope.
The Bible is not just ancient literature or moral advice; it’s a divine revelation, offering wisdom, guidance, and truth for every generation. Its historical accuracy, prophetic insight, and unparalleled influence across cultures and centuries affirm that it is more than a book—it is God’s message to humanity. It calls us to embrace truth in a world quick to settle for myths, fictions, and fleeting philosophies.
Now is the time to set aside fairy tales and cling to the unchanging truth of the Bible. In a world constantly redefining “truth,” the Bible remains steadfast, speaking to the hearts and minds of all who seek genuine understanding and purpose. Pastor Hall’s message challenges us to recognize the Bible as more than stories, teachings, or poetry. It is the living, enduring Word of God—our ultimate foundation and the greatest fact of all time.
