Stop Playing With Sin, You're Going to Burn

Pastor Anthony Hall stood at the pulpit, delivering a message that struck at the heart of faith and commitment: God calls His people to step away from comfort and move towards His purpose. Pastor Hall began with Genesis 12:1, where God calls Abraham to leave everything familiar—his homeland, his kin, and his comfort—and journey to an unknown land of promise. The message was clear: sometimes, God calls us to leave behind the very things that feel like home to us in order to reach a greater blessing.
But what about those who find themselves tangled in the allure of the wrong places? The preacher pointed to Lot’s life as a stark warning. Lot, who started out faithfully following Abraham, eventually found himself entangled in Sodom’s wickedness. This narrative serves as a reminder that the blessings of God come from obedience and trust, not by following what appears most prosperous or enticing at first glance. Pastor Hall urged the congregation to hear God’s voice today: “Come out of Babylon, my people.”

The Dangers of “Sweet Looks”

Lot’s choice seemed wise—the fertile plains of Jordan looked promising. But as Lot settled near Sodom, he exposed himself and his family to its corrupt influence. Over time, he became increasingly entangled in the city's immorality. We have to be careful where we're pitching our tents, because what seems like a good opportunity at first can lead to spiritual compromise and moral decay. Lot's initial decision appeared pragmatic—he chose the land that was well-watered and ideal for his herds, thinking it would ensure prosperity.
However, by settling near Sodom, Lot gradually found himself surrounded by a corrupt and sinful environment. The influence of the city’s immorality was subtle at first, but over time, it wore down his values and led him further away from God's principles. This is a powerful reminder that proximity to sin can easily pull us into its grip, even when we think we can control it. We must be vigilant, as small compromises today can lead to significant consequences tomorrow.

Step Out in Faith, Not Sight

Abraham’s journey is a story of trust. He left everything familiar not knowing where he was going, but he trusted God’s promise. It’s a reminder that faith often requires us to step out, even when we can’t see the full picture. Where is God calling you to trust Him today?

Come Out of Confusion

The call from Revelation 18:4 is a powerful one: “Come out of her, my people.” It is an urgent cry for believers today, as God is still calling His people to separate from spiritual confusion and the ways of the world. God has people stuck in these places, living in confusion, and He’s calling them out. Will you listen?

"Them was Exceedingly Wicked!"

Pastor Hall didn't mince words when he emphasized the moral state of Sodom: “Sodom was a place of homosexuality, that man living with man and woman living with woman as though they were married in a sexual relationship. That is wrong,” he stated. The stark warning was a call for the church to stay vigilant, as the world continues to redefine truth and morality.

Check Your Choices

Pastor Hall urged us to reflect on the choices we make, as Lot’s story shows the consequences of choices we make. Our decisions shape the path we walk on, and it’s essential to choose the land of promise over temporary satisfaction.

Just As Sodom Burned

“This world is going to burn, any day now she'll be on fire. The God of heaven will rain down fire and brimstone on this world. How shall you stand?

Don’t Fiddle With The Devil

step back into God’s safety
There’s a danger in standing at the edge of sin, thinking we won’t fall. Are we living too close to the line?

Stand Firm Against Lies

Pastor Hall reminded us of Martin Luther’s boldness in the face of deception. Like Luther, we must stand firm against practices that contradict God’s Word. Truth is not for sale—no indulgence can buy salvation.

Don’t Look Back

Lot’s wife famously turned into a pillar of salt for looking back. When God calls us out, there’s no room for hesitation or regret. Press forward with faith and leave behind the past.

Don’t Get Caught Slipping: Come Out of Babylon

The story of Abraham and Lot challenges us to consider the direction of our lives. Abraham's obedience to God's call shows us that stepping out in faith may require leaving behind comfort, but it leads to a greater promise. Lot’s decision to settle in Sodom, driven by what appeared prosperous, ended in destruction. We are reminded today to reflect on where we are and what choices we are making.
God is calling us to come out of the confusion of this world and follow His truth. The call is clear in Revelation 18:4, urging us to leave behind the things that pull us away from His purpose. Our choices—big and small—have eternal consequences. Let’s not be led astray by temporary gains but seek the lasting promises of God’s kingdom.
As we move forward, we must check our choices, making sure they align with God’s Word. Just as Abraham trusted God’s direction, we must trust His guidance in all things. Let us not compromise, but stand firm in the truth, trusting that God’s plan for us is better than any worldly attraction.
